NF P 92-504 Flame Persistency and Propagation Tester
NF P 92-504 Alev Kalıcılığı ve Yayılımı Test Cihazı
Performs complementary flame persistency and flame propagation tests used in the M classification of building and fitting materials. Suitable for flexible and rigid materials.
Model technical data
- Flame persistence and spread
- Method-specific specimen setup, burner and timing
Physical specifications and utilities
| Electrical supply | Approx. 220–240 V AC, 50/60 Hz, single phase; build-dependent. |
|---|---|
| Power / connected load | Approx. 20–100 W connected load for preliminary planning. |
| Overall instrument dimensions | Approx. 750 × 500 × 750 mm (W × D × H); base apparatus, separate hood excluded. |
| Instrument weight | Approx. 20–40 kg net. |
| Gross / shipping weight | Approx. 32–60 kg gross; estimated packing allowance. |
| Lab requirements | NF P92-504: propane 10–50 kPa; separate glazed hood ≥1 m³ and air velocity <0.2 m/s at specimen. Hood external dimensions, fan load and mass are excluded from base-apparatus estimates. |
Dimension order and approximate values are stated in each row. Packaging data are separate from instrument dimensions and net mass. Approx. rows are preliminary engineering estimates based on comparable equipment and function/capacity; they are not verified manufacturing measurements or standard requirements. Installation and shipment are finalised against the approved drawing and nameplate. Estimate scope: base product / one unit; external computer, bench and auxiliary plant excluded.
Specifications, dimensions, and power requirements are approximate and subject to change without prior notice for continuous design improvements.
Product technical specifications and images may vary according to manufacturing conditions and applicable standards.

Test parameters for the reviewed method
Values belong to the stated source edition. Test recipe, fixture and delivered instrument configuration are selected together.
NF P92-504:1995-12 · 1–8, Figures 1–5; apparatus 4; procedure 6; calculation 7
- Method-specific propane burner, supply 10–50 kPa; flame height 20 mm, burner angle 45°. Tilt/presentation timing accuracy 0.1 s; tilt transition 0.1–0.2 s. Separate glazed hood volume ≥1 m³ and air velocity around specimen <0.2 m/s.
- Flame persistence: 5 s contact, reapply 3 s after extinction; observe approximately 10 applications per specimen and 30 total. Propagation marks 250 mm apart; V = 250/t, mm/s. Record application count, afterflame, dripping and propagation time separately.
Control and recording specification
The following are method-specific software/recording requirements; delivered software modules are defined by the order scope.
- Method code and edition, specimen ID, operator and selected test parameters are linked to the record.
- The calculation and endpoint are defined by the selected method edition; instrument signals and operator assessments are kept distinct.
- Raw measurements, units, valid/invalid test flags and the reported result remain traceable.
- Calculations are checked against known inputs and an independent calculation; sensor channels are checked against calibration values.
