Crimp Contraction Tester

Determines the crimp percentage of textured synthetic yarns using a water-filled Plexiglas cylinder, skein holder and pretension weights. Particularly suited to textured nylon yarns for hosiery.

- Water-hank contraction method for textured nylon yarn. Water 20 ± 2 °C; initial load 0.900 mN/dtex, reduced load 0.0176 mN/dtex. Weight tolerance ±1%; calibration refers to load in air. Requires 2 L cylinder, adjustable 100-division scale and timing accuracy 0.1 s.
- Hold 2 min under full load, then 2 min after removing the heavy load. Two determinations per package; a third if difference >1%. Method B prebulking heats water to 75 ± 4 °C in about 10 min and holds 10 min; separate bath provision depends on order scope.
